Africa is rising, yes it is soaring high!

Africa has slowly and steadily been rising from its “dark continent” stereotype. History has it that in the days of Emperor Caesar and Cleopatra, Africa was the breadbasket of the known world. Much of the present day Sahara desert was green and fertile. Organized and hierarchically sophisticated kingdoms of which the city of Timbuktu in West Africa is a quiet memorial, had already learned science, medicine and Math that Europe only leant centuries later.

Climate change and occupation/conquest Wars lost to European invaders armed with guns against spears and stones decimated Africa’s great potential and at the same time dimmed its glorious beauty. The Berlin conference of 1885 further jeopardized Africa’s independence by partitioning the continent into arbitrary territories (countries) regardless of the already existing differences between kingdoms, cultures, and tribes.

In his 1998 book “The shadow of the sun” the Polish historian and writer Ryszard Kapuscinsk gives a vivid and clear description the situation. “…Everything about the internal politics of Africa’s states is intricate and entangled. This stems directly from the fact that European colonialists crammed the approximately Ten thousand Kingdoms, federations and stateless but independent tribal groups that shared a long history of conflict and war”

But finally, all the sordid and squalid history only has a place in history books and Museums. The continent has finally got its footing in the global   Match towards development. We now have huge investments and developments in almost all sectors such as Agriculture, mining, industry, energy, public infrastructure, tourism etc. Talking tourism, today we are sure that anywhere one decides to go in Africa, they will have good friendly services beside the amazing natural attractions, hotels or safari lodges, from Le Meridien or Mariot Mena at Giza in Cairo to One & Only in Capetown, Mahali mzuri in Kenya, to Chobe or Apoka Safari lodge in Uganda to Bumi Hills Safari lodge in Zimbabwe, to Sandibe Okavango safari Lodge in Botswana. The list is inexhaustible.

Africa today is, like it has always been the place of all good things, be it people or human talent, mineral resource, organic foods, good weather, wildlife, Beaches,  great escapes and amazing journeys, it’s all found in Africa- the ever  darling continent and the cradle of mankind.
